Our History, Vision, and Mission

1941

Initial Establishment

Initially established as Landbouwwetenschap or Lembaga Pendidikan Tinggi Pertanian (LPTP, The Institute for Higher Education in Agriculture).

Faculty of Agriculture, University of Indonesia

Reformed as Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Indonesia, having two departments, i.e. Department of Agriculture and Department of Forestry. Later on, it was expanded to include Department of Inland Fisheries.

1963

IPB Founding Day

Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine then established Bogor Agricultural University (Institut Pertanian Bogor).

Indonesia's First Postgraduate Program

The Department of Soil Science was amongst the first to establish a postgraduate program.

Vision

To become a center of excellence in education, research and services to the community in the field of soil science and land resources as well as technologies to support sustainable agriculture, environmental sustainability and sustainable national development.

Advancing human resources and developing science and technology in soil and land uses for the welfare of the society.

Mission

Purposes

  1. To nurture land management experts who understand fundamental concepts of soil and land sciences, and able to identify, to analyze, to explain, to predict and to formulate ways to solve problems related to soil and land uses.

  2. To discover, develop, apply and disseminate soil science along with technologies and management of land resources for the welfare of the society.
