IPB University Opens 2026 Summer Course on Advanced Digital Agriculture, Welcoming 27 Participants from Three Countries

Bogor – The Department of Soil Science and Land Resource and the Smart Agriculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB University, officially opened the 2026 International Summer Course on Advanced Digital Agriculture (SCADA) on Monday (5/10/2026). Organised jointly with Gyeongsang National University and the Leading University Project International Cooperation, the programme brings together 27 students and scholars from three countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Canada.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Director of International Program of IPB University, Dr. Raden Dikky, MM; the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, IPB University, Prof. Suryo Wiyono, M.Agr.; the Dean of the Faculty of Agrotechnology and Applied Sciences (Fakulti Agroteknologi dan Sains Gunaan), ICATS; the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and the Vice Dean for Resources, Cooperation, and Development of the Faculty of Agriculture, IPB University; the Head of the Department of Soil Science and Land Resource; lecturers; and accompanying lecturers of ICATS students. SCADA 2026 was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Suryo Wiyono, M.Agr.

In her report, SCADA 2026 Chairperson Dr. Sri Malahayati Yusuf, M.Si., expressed her gratitude to all guests and participants for their presence. “We are thrilled to host such a talented and diverse group of students and scholars representing three different countries,” she said.

SCADA 2026 is delivered in a hybrid format, combining online and offline sessions. The online sessions began on 21 September and will run until 31 October 2026, while the offline sessions run from the opening day until 10 October 2026, followed by a guest lecture on 14 October 2026.

Through the offline sessions, participants deepen their practical knowledge and skills in the fundamentals of smart farming and soil health. Sessions held so far have covered soil carbon and soil health, soil GHG, sustainability, fertigation, drones, proximal sensing, and geopositioning, delivered by lecturers from Indonesia (IPB University), Japan (Kyoto University and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology/TUAT), and Sweden (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences/SLU). Participants also take part in hands-on field activities and field excursions designed to broaden their academic horizons. Following the excursions, participants will attend further offline sessions on digital agriculture, crop modelling, remote sensing, and machine learning, delivered by lecturers from IPB University and Gyeongsang National University (GNU).
