IPB has been mandated to establish the Inter-University Center of Excellence (IUCE) on Food Security. As a part of the IUCE activities, on Friday 19 July 2024, DSSLR organized two lectures delivered by prominent scholar, Prof Hitoshi Shinjo from Kyoto University, Japan. The first lecture was about “The impact of agriculture practices on GHG emissions”. In the afternoon session, he delivered a talk about “Interaction between urban and rural livelihoods”. The lectures were attended by some faculty members, doctoral, masters and undergraduate students.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Arief Hartono, MSc.Agr. was invited as a resource person for the General Lecture of “Evaluation of Soil Fertility and Balanced Fertilization over Swampy Areas”. This event was organized by the Study Program of Agrotechnology, Musamus University, Merauke, between 19 and 23 June 2024.
